Yaba is a suburb located on Lagos mainland, in Lagos State. Yaba has one of the busiest market sites in Lagos, known as Tejuosho Market. The old Tejuosho Market, around the Eastern side of Yaba, was
demolished in 2008 and rebuilt into a modern shopping complex by the end of 2014. This attracts a steady stream of traders into the district for commercial experiences.

Additionally, the region houses three tertiary institutions namely, University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba College of Technology and Federal College of Education, Yaba. There is also a teacher’s training institution, St. Augustine’s College of Education.

Yaba is also known for having the strongest collection of active startups within the Lagos Metropolis, companies like CCHub, Paga and PrepClass. Some of these companies have drawn the presence of Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, and a few other active international tech business owners.

Fundamentally, the most active rail station on the Mainland is around Ojigbo area of Yaba, marking the starting point for travelers bound for the South West states, onwards to the Northern districts of the country.
